Here is the first Michigan Mustang
Exclusive! Surfing the web I found an awesome mustang website. When I
got further into the website, I found out it was not just your typical
website for mustangs. Granted, the title did draw me in, but the info
kept me there. You see, this website wasn't just about women and mustangs,
but it had a strong message about facing one of the most common cancer among
women, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer
death in women, after lung cancer.
So, I inquired about the website and its owner. Meet Kathy West, the
woman behind MustangWomen.com
Here is a little Q and A session with Kathy. 1. What is your age and
tell us a little about yourself?
Getting ready to turn 35. I'm a mother to 7 awesome kids and I work in the
Information Systems field. I am Microsoft Certified and studying for my
Wireless Network Administrator Certification.
2. What Mustangs do you and your family currently own?
I have a 2005 Screaming Yellow V6 Coupe
 3. How many members do you currently have at your site?
We started in May 2005 and currently have 127 registered members on the
forums.
4. Do you have a total of the cash amount your site has earned for the
fight
against breast cancer?
5% of our online store goes towards the cause, since the site started, the
sales have been slim. However, I have the members do scavenger hunts
for
Breast Cancer Related items and when I purchased these items, some monies
went to the cause. We are still so very new and I wish to raise a
lot of
money for the cause.
5. Is there a site you want to promote for the fight on breast cancer?
Ford is a huge advocate for the cause. That URL is
http://www.fordvehicles.com/thecause/ and the Susan G. Komen
foundation
http://www.komen.org
6. What's your favorite Mustang?
I have grown very fond of the new body style that I currently own.
But if I
were to have another, it would be the 64 1/2 vert. But one the I
cannot
forget is the 1967 Playboy Pink Mustang. If I could get my hands on
one of
those, that would most certainly stand out for our cause!
7. What's the most common thing you hear when your out in your mustang?
This is a very good question. I get asked almost every time "Is that
your
Mustang?" and the second common one is "that is one beautiful ride".
8. What's your favorite mustang story?
I would have to say the story that contributed to getting MustangWomen.com
started.
I belong to the Yellow Mustang Registry and we (the YMR) participated in
an
auto show at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte NC. I was there with
about
39 other yellow Mustang owners. This was in April 2005 after the new
body
style really started to get popular. As we were leaving, I had the
windows
down and I heard a guy say "There's a NEW Mustang" and as I passed he said
"Oh my God, there's a chick driving it." Well, that is how Mustang
Women
started. Most think my car belongs to a guy because of my license
plate
(WINXPMCP), but I'm the geek. :)
9. What mustang clubs do you belong to?
Yellow Mustang Registry and MustangWomen.com is listed as an official
Mustang Club on Ford's website.
10. Is there anything you wan't to say to the Michigan Mustang group?
I snooped around the site to see what it had to offer. The
merchandise is
cool and I love the logos! The forums are very friendly and family
orientated. The photo gallery shows a lot of sweet rides! It
has great
potential to be huge! Michigan is a big state!
 Thanks
Kathy for the interview, and I hope we can help spread the word about all
the great stuff going on at www.MustangWomen.com
