This unique "Shelby" has received a lot of attention,
good and bad. The GT500E was not a real Shelby, but played one in the
movie. There were 12 Eleanors built for the movie, But this was the one
that was deemed the Movie star. It has caused clones to pop up all over
and bringing big money on Ebay. There has even been 05/06 Mustangs
modified and painted to mimic the movie's second star.
Unless you have been hiding under a rock,
you know that Carroll Shelby has started to build "real" Shelby versions
of this car. He has received permission from Ford and the U.S.
government to re-vin old 67/68 fastbacks and label them as Shelby's.
